The history of our people here is one fraught with discrimination. Legalized discrimination. Here’s a list of some dates in history where laws passed (or rulings were issued) that make us remember how fucked up the immigration system is, and has been.

Left is re-imagined Mulan, right is still from Mulan film. Pretty drastic difference, not only in the color of her skin, but also in the shape of her features (new lips are fuller, new face is slimmed and longer). The new Mulan’s eyes now seem to have a blue highlight, making them look like Western blue eyes. Hmm…
[submission with a closer shot]
ok, I kept seeing these types of mulan posts on my dash tonight and wasn’t going to say anything but… blue eyes??? really disney?
….way to whiteify everything
and also Jasmine’s dolls are whitewashed to hell and back and no on like Tiana
…awesome job disney
NOPE
the blue eyes, damn why
I DON’T HAVE A GIF FOR THE MAELSTROM OF “FUCK NO” I’M FEELING RIGHT NOW.
maybe she has blue eyes? I have Asian friends with blue eyes, it’s not impossible
not impossible but highly unlikely. her eyes are black in the original film and junk
nah there is a whole bunch of nope i feel about this.
yeah but them being black is just stylisation isn’t it? I mean who has black irises? The whole white wash and everything is shit I’m just saying that blue eyes shouldn’t be a bad thing?
yeah most asians i know have way whiter skin, more akin to the reimagined one than the original movie. quit looking for ‘racist’ shit all over, not every little thing is some horrible social injustice.
that makes as much sense as it being acceptable to change Belle’s hair to blond if it turned out most French people had blond hair. Mulan is an EXISTING CHARACTER. She has an established skin tone in the movie. That they changed. To be remarkably lighter. For merchandise. That is the very definition of white-washing. This is what a bunch of little girls will see: that even Mulan the badass warrior princess wasn’t fit enough, pretty enough, for the new merch until they whitened her up. Not every issue of injustice in the world is going to be an example in a high school textbook first, but try and see if maybe not everything is justified as easily as you think it is.
One of the ancient ploys of the film industry is to make a film about non-white people and find a way, however convoluted, to tell it from the point of view of a white character.

Film critic Roger Ebert on Hollywood in his review of “Flowers of War”
“Can you think of any reason the character John Miller is needed to tell his story? Was any consideration given to the possibility of a Chinese priest? Would that be asking for too much?”

the open nature of minecraft allows you to create your own stories and narrative where weird and unpredictable stuff happens all the time and it’s these little moments that make the game so much fun. this is a comic based on the other day i was playing where wolves were coming into the house and jumping into the fireplace for some reason…
